Probate

Probate is the process by which the estate of a deceased person is administered and distributed.

  • the Probate Court oversees the probate process- determining the validity of  a will, collecting assets, paying debts and taxes, and distributing assets to heirs
  • if a person dies without a will (intestate), the Probate Court will appoint a Personal Representative to determine asset distribution according to the laws of the State of Michigan
